Necessary Changes

"Dear Atty. ____________,

It is with utmost (insert word here, dunno what to use yet) that I tender my resignation.

For more than five years, __________ has been my second home. For that, I thank the whole institution for accepting me into its folds.

Through the years, I have witnessed _________ grow. I would like to think that in my own little ways, I have contributed to its growth. However, I feel that now is the time for new changes in my personal life. I feel that I have done my part and must now move on to let others do theirs.

There is a personal need for me to find a field more suitable to my background. Moreover, I would like to grow as a writer as well. ________, sad to say, is not the proper venue for that. I remember what Dr.___________, himself, told me when he interviewed us at the President's Office back in early 20__. He had asked all of us about our future plans and aspirations. I told him I was going to be a writer. To this, he said, "You should do it as early as now." Those were simple words, but wise. I now intend to follow his advice.

It is, thus, that I tend my resignation. For the school to have ample time to find a replacement, and for myself to settle accounts and unfinished work, I then ask that termination of my contract starts in January.

Again, my gratitude for the opportunities ________ has given me. It has been my pleasure to have served _________ in return.

Thank you.

Respectfully,

(my name)"

*Now, all I gotta do is find the right time to submit the letter this week and when to tell my mother. She won't be mad (after all, I'm not the breadwinner), but she's going to be worried.

  3. Thanks, Debbie and Jeffer.

Well, the only person in the office who didn't know about my plan was the "Boss" (please don't ask me to explain why I put it in quotaion marks...Let's just say I don't regard her as such). But today, when we had a talk and she asked me something, if I could do it, I promptly said no then told her I had to be honest. "I'm resigning". Well, she took it well. She was surprised, but took it well. So I told her my reasons. Then I told her the main reason. "I just can't stay anymore. All we'll be doing is fight. You know that. And it makes me guilty everytime we fight because I'm a godmother of your son. I just don't want to fight anymore." Surprisingly, she agreed. She just said her problem now is finding a writer for the office...

I just can't believe the wheels have really started turning and I've got to keep it rolling again from now on. God, I'm nervous! But somehow, I'm happy.

  4. Wow! Bet you feel as though a huge weight has been lifted.

It's so draining to work for someone you're constantly battling with. I've been there and felt so good when I bailed. You'll find something soon...and it will probably be even better!

  14. So, Justin, there are more positive things that you get from your job, eh? Stay then. Sometimes, it's better to work with friends and where there is harmony. I, for one, value a healthy working environment. But since I don't have that now, I'm willing to work for a lesser pay so long as I'm outta here... But I will miss my friends... :(

So what happened? were you able to send the RL to your boss? Or are you still there?

    ReplyDelete
  21. They accepted the resignation with no questions asked. They knew I was right. Besides, after my immediate boss left, I felt like they didn't know what assignments to give me anymore, they were sort of at a loss.

  24. It was a university actually where I met many of my lifetime friends, including my best-est bestfriend. I was Public Relations and Advertising Assistant. My main duty (though that wasn't the only thing I did) was to write their institutional videos and produce those. I like to think that the school achieved university status especially because of my and my then-boss's help. After all, that was why our office was created. I'm mighty proud of that :>

  25. I'm semi-okay. The job's okay enough, but it's the financial aspect and the kind of management that are bugging me.
